The Pandemic

The future influences the present just as much as the past!

Humanity continue to thrive as humans never cease to discover more about themselves even though it may lead to their destruction. Despite several wars and conflicts, the planet Earth was able to withhold as much sapiens as it can, however, the history of mankind is about to change from nuclear wars to biological wars with inhuman creatures. Viruses and deadly organisms continues to escape from what seems like an eternal prison to them—the ice sheet in the Artic and Antarctica.  In 3021, the global populations dropped to half its size in previous decades. However, the remaining populations were able to adapt to the gruesome invasion of viruses. Everyone on earth now have at least ten different viruses flowing through their blood stream,this has caused several mutations among humans. 

The Big Pharma

 I’ve lived hundreds of years with no sign of ageing nor illness. I’m literally an immortal, and this is something that does not suit well with me nor humanity.

However, long ago in 2160, the team that carried out the experiments that led to my existence was later hijacked by a syndicate organization—MERS.  The MERS is a secretive organization with wide range of networks on earth, known for money laundering, ownership of big pharmaceutical companies and notorious in hijacking several scientific researches for their personal gains.  

Even though the experiments that led to my existence were accidental, the MERS tried to replicate these abilities from me, not for the sake of humanity, but to hold humanity to ransom. However, I managed to escape from their grasp while Dr. Knopf was killed in the process of keeping the secrets.

Auto regeneration and Fast Healing

   “If we can get hold of this secret, we will rule the world!”     Sembulingam (the mastermind behind the syndicate) claimed. “We need to get that boy!” he commanded. This was something that got inscribed on the syndicate’s agenda. For several years on my trail, several generations of MERS failed to get hold of me. However, in the year 2900, I was later apprehended through the latest technology that was able to hack the nanobots in me.   
   The MERS carried out several experiments to obtain biological immortality from me, they succeeded in harvesting the nanobots responsible for auto regeneration and fast healing process, however one thing they had failed to achieve is biological immortality, this special ability lies in a special gene created by mutation.

Nanomedicine

The MERS later found out nanomedicine only prevented aging and not death. They harvested this to spearhead one of their long term goal to dominate anti-aging pharmaceutical companies. These minute machines can travel in the blood and possibly prevent aging by repairing the damaged cells. Nanotech could also cure certain diseases, including some types of cancer by removing cancerous cells from the body. This is what these doctors in me do!

The MERS began to sell out the nanomedicine to human at a very high cost. Due to the ravaging viral pandemic, most human resorted to these nanobots therapy. The MERS seemed like a messiah trying to save the world but on the contrary, it was a veiled killer as population was halved its normal size globally. The nanomedicine poisoned anyone who uses it to death within few years of intake, putting them through unimaginable terror before death. It was then I realized how the MERS intended to utilize the nanobots.

Few years later, the syndicate organization created an antidote for the poisoning and sold it at a greater price. A price only the elite could pay. Others who could not afford it died from the poisoning or subscribed to the organization’s force labor in exchange for the antidote.

The Time Machine

100 years later, I finally escaped from the MERS with the help of Guyton- a scientist working for MERS.

Back to 3021, Guyton and I built a time machine using the latest particle acceleration technology in order to change the past. “Only you can stop the menace happening in the world today… The past influences the present and the future, we need to rewrite history” Guyton said while he tried fixing some parts of the machine.

“I now have more reasons to travel back in time, I need to stop Dr. Knopf from performing the experiment” I replied. Time traveling was the only way to prevent the happening of this event. The MERS have been on our trail after I escaped with Guyton and they were able to find us sooner than we thought.

“You need to escape with the time machine! They are coming!” Guyton said frantically. “I cannot go without you. They will kill you!” I replied. “I’m going to buy us some time, just go!” he said

I finally got into the time machine while Guyton tried fending them off by engaging them in laser gun battle. I was able to synchronize the time machine to travel back in time to the year 2150—that same year the experiment was carried out!

Despite the fact that the machine has not been tested with human, it was the only option I could use to escape from them. Guyton made it into the time machine before it launched. I was relieved to see him.

What happened in 2021?

Year 2021: The time machine malfunctioned during the course of traveling back in time which led to an error in time lapse, separating I and Guyton. I arrived in 2021 and found myself outside a well secured facility. My arrival was not noticeable by the security guards in front of the building as my particles were deposited silently behind a van.
I walked up to the guards and I was met with hostility as they pointed their guns at me instantaneously.
“Who are you, and how did you get in here? ” one of the guards asked. “This is a restricted facility and unauthorized personnel are not allowed” the other guard said while moving closer to me. More of them surrounded me and they approach to arrest me. Without resistance, I was arrested and taken into a room which appeared like an interrogation room.

After several failed attempts to get some words from me, a high ranked official was summoned in. He was dressed in white coat and seemed to be in his 30s.
“Collect his blood samples, we need to get access to his DNA profile” he said. I tried reading his name on his laboratory coat and I found out he is Marcus Knopf— Dr. Knopf’s father!
Few minutes after the the blood sample was collected, a scientist dressed up in PPE entered into the confinement in an hurry. “Y’all should stay back!, we discovered some deadly viruses in his blood sample, this pose a high risk ” he announced. This was when I realized I am also a great threat to the present time, the future viruses are here!
